One semester down

"Moshi-moshi, how was my chick?"

With the closing of ITP Winter Show 2008, my first semester at Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU is over. I had so much fun collaborating with other students to make the show one of the best and the most crowded shows ever in the ITP history. And by presenting my work, which was not perfect but durable enough to go through two days of shaking and throwing, I was able to get wonderful and valuable user feedback.

Nihonjin hakken

I woke up at 10:30am, had breakfast and checked e-mails as usual. For some reason I decided to check what two of my Japanese colleagues are doing, and visited their Website. Then, I found both wrote about their lives at ITP and introduced Japanese students including myself on their blogs. Now I think I need to write something about them :) Read more

chickabiddy is on its way = nervous

It’s one day plus several hours left before the ITP Winter Show 2008 begins on Wednesday. I am going to present my pcomp/ICM final “chickabiddy“, which is a toy project I would like to get user feedbacks. Honestly, I am not so happy about the status of this toy, which is still work in progress and there are so many things I wanted to improve, so I am extremely nervous to have it present in front of non-ITP audiences. But I think it will be a great experience for me to know what it means to show your work, explain your concept, and see how others interact with your piece. I am also looking forward to seeing other great works to get inspired by.

One more day left

One more day left before…..

- I get to sleep 24 hours

- I don’t have to stay up until 3am

- I have no more classes at ITP this year (amazing & sad)

- I discontinue talking to Mr. Bluetooth

- I start packing for traveling(hooray!)

Oh “finals” weeks were such a long long long period that felt like lasting forever. OMG, I cannot believe that I am actually completing my first semeter. ALREADY. yea, and it’s already 2009.

Long love the insomniac thread!

Yesterday I sent a simple question to the ITP email list at 1:51AM when I was working. The email subject was “I wonder how many of us are awake now…”. By the time I checked it I had a looooong response that lasted till 10am! Quoting Corey from his email, long love the insomniac thread!

Lily and the First Snow

For CommLab this week, I made a short clip with Lily and animated snow scene using After Effects. This clip, titled “Lily and the First Snow”, has a simple narrative with a dog and the snow(with Santa?), and I tried to follow my storyboard to illustrate the story.

Lily

Amazing

SLEEPING (for real) in amazing posture

Now that I’m in final week, when I get tremendous amount of stress and sleepless nights, I’ve been checking photos of my dog that I have back in Japan when I take a break from working.

Her name is Lily, named after her birthday(supposedly July – flower of the month is Lily).  My family adopted her when she was about six months old. She was found on streets with five other sisters/brothers and her mother dog, and a great pet-rescue organization saved them and posted the adoption ad one day. I cannot believe why people just throw their pets away! When we contacted the organization, they still had other sisters/brothers but now all of Lily’s sisters and brothers are adopted.
