My love for data visualization, info design, symbols and maps

A class called “1′2′10′” by Nick Bilton of New York Times that I took today reminded me of how I fell in love with information design while at Parsons School of Design, where I did a thesis about map design.

So I decided to bring back my strong interest in symbols, info/data organization & visualization again. To refresh my memory and revive the enthusiasm, I decided to post whatever Web resources I found interesting to mention here. Today I am introducing three Websites, but I will frequently be posting more if I find any. Read more

Pixels! Processing with video

Basic pixel rendering from camera

For Intro to Computational Media homework, I had to do serial communication experiment with Processing. I’ve already done the serial comm exercise between Processing and Arduino for Pcomp class, so I decided to study the one with video (webcam on my Mac). The picture here shows myself holding a stuffed animal (it’s Donald Duck from Disney’s) in front of the camera, and Processing automatically picks a pixel for each segment of the captured motion (video), depending on the resolution I choose. I might use this imagery serial communication function for my mid-term.. :)
